Ingredients

1 medium yellow onion, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
2 pears, diced
2 tablespoons Pear Balsamic
7 cups cubed bread (or 1 pack of stuffing mix)
10 fresh sage leaves
2 cups chicken or turkey broth
1/3 cup Ascolano Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 lb of ground Italian sausage
Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees and grease a casserole dish. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add celery, onion, and 5 sage leaves. Cook until onions become translucent and begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

In a second skillet add diced pear and pear balsamic to a hot pan and cook until reduced, about 5 minutes. Once finished add mixture into your first skillet with onion and celery.

Step 4

Bring your first skillet to a simmer once onions and celery are done. Add bread/stuffing mixture and add chicken or turkey stock until bread mixture has absorbed all the liquid.

Step 5

In a third skillet heat pan and cook the ground Italian sausage all the way through. Once finished, add into your bread mixture. Stir all ingredients until well combined. Transfer ingredients to your casserole dish.

Step 6

Cover your dish and bake until warmed through, about 20-25 minutes. Remove lid and broil until top is crispy and browned, about 10 minutes. Top with sage and serve.
