The Rosengarten Report
Posted by Olivia on Sun, May 30, 2010
The James Beard Award-Winning Rosengarten Report June 2010 newsletter just came out, brimming with useful EVOO information. You can check it out here. The report is full of great olive oil tasting advice and underscores what we've been saying since we got started: fresh is best! Says Rosengarten Report founder David Rosengarten:
I realized something of fundamental importance: olive oil is never better than on the bloomin' day it's made. It is not like wine (except for Beaujolais Nouveau, of course). It does not improve with age.
The Rosengarten Report reviewed all of the best Extra Virgin Olive Oils, worldwide, noting our Ascolano Extra Virgin Olive Oil's, "intriguing combo of Tuscan fruit, Picual tomato vine, plus lots of grainy, almost yeasty notes. There is a generous, velvety, buttery feel, and a pleasing pinch of pepperiness in the finish."
Be sure to subscribe to The Rosengarten Report for monthly emails detailing David Rosengarten's delicious culinary adventures!
