Endless Options Collection: Mix It Up!
Posted by Olivia on Wed, May 25, 2011
Do you enjoy mixing it up? Are you in love with different spices, fresh herbs, and citrus flavors? You are only limited by your imagination with this collection! When we asked our olive oil tasting room experts to put together a collection that had limitless pairing options- they outdid themselves! We call it the Endless Options Collection, and it’s pretty darn amazing. The set comes with four Extra Virgin Olive Oils (delicate, medium and robust), five Balsamic Vinegars,(classic and fruity) and our Gold Medal Blood Orange Citrus Oil. The oils and vinegars run the gamut for levels or fruit, spice, and ripeness, and they will spruce up even your simplest recipes with incredible diversity.
Olive oils in the set include Master Blend, Koroneiki, Italian Blend, and Mission—you’re getting our ripest, fruitiest oils up to the most robust and peppery ones. And for vinegars, you’ll fall in love with our balsamics: Champagne, Strawberry, Fig, White, and Black Currant—all will pair wonderfully with seasonal foods of spring and summer.
With this set, you can have fun for hours in the kitchen experimenting with different types of vinaigrettes. And actually, that is one of the most common questions we get asked in the shop: What is the proper ratio of oil the vinegar when making a vinaigrette?
It’s so simple: Whisk three parts oil to one part vinegar. That’s it!! Obviously you’ll want to add a bit more pizzazz to your vinaigrette than just oil and vinegar, and that’s where the fun comes in. Add a dab of mustard for a tangy flavor that helps give a bit of cohesion to the vinaigrette. Add a pinch of your fave dried herbs and spices, or a small handful of minced fresh herbs for a bright flavor. Sea salt and freshly ground pepper are absolute essentials for rounding out the flavor. Mix and match oils and vinegars with the Endless Options Collection for countless salads to keep you well-fed through the summer and beyond.
Check out our Recipe section for more cooking inspiration with these wonderful ingredients. Or better yet, take your stand-by recipes and make them spectacular by substituting these oils and vinegars for the usual ones. Sweet potatoes roasted in Blood Orange Oil and drizzled with Black Currant Balsamic? Incredible. Maybe grilled pork chops with a Fig Balsamic glaze? Or perhaps an arugula and Parmesan salad with Koroneiki-Strawberry vinaigrette? With this set, the options are truly endless.
