Blessing of the Olives: December 4th
Posted by Olivia on Wed, October 27, 2010
On December 4th, join us at the northeast corner of the Sonoma Square in the historic Mission Solano de Sonoma for the Blessing of the Olives, a traditional ceremony held once a year to mark the beginning of the Sonoma Valley Olive Festival. Celebrating the rich history, culture, and cuisine surrounding olives, Sonoma’s second crop, this beautiful event is one that draws both locals and out-of-towners. The blessing ceremony includes music, speeches, and refreshments—and the chance to experience first-hand a bit of old world ritual.
Afterwards, swing by The Olive Press for our Open House celebration and complimentary olive oil tasting. We’ll be sampling our freshest extra virgin olive oil, Olio Nuovo, along with our finest tapenades, cured olives, and flatbreads. Joining us for the day will be local artist Lisa Ryman, showcasing her handmade cruets, as well as our culinary lavender mixologist, offering a hand-crafted culinary menu for our guests.
Kick off the Olive Festival with the family, and join us for the Blessing of the Olives on December 4th at 11:00am.
